Tex in the City had its first 4:Your Consideration Art Series event on Wednesday night, June 4th at the Gershwin Hotel and it was a fantastic evening of live theater mixed with social interaction (and really inexpensive beer and wine). The crowd started arriving pretty much on time for the hour long pre-party and by 7:00 pm, the bar area of the Gershwin Hotel's Living Room performance space was filled to capacity. All three of the staged readings were well-received and each offered the audience a different relationship to scrutinize and ultimately discuss with each other and the playwright, Kayla Solomon. Kayla was a gracious artist listening to the audience's reactions to her work and then taking time after the readings to share her personal thoughts and insights into the development of the characters and situations that made up the body of the three plays.

Kambri, Scott and I had envisioned this exact kind of artistic and social interaction when we created Tex in the City and seeing the 4:Your Consideration Art Series develop into a tangible outlet for this mix of theatrical expression and entertainment was quite a thrill. I am really looking forward to more of these kinds of events where the audience has the chance to interact and participate in the art of theater while still being entertained by it.

4: Your Consideration Art Series

You! Yes, you! Where the hell were you? You just missed out on the best social/artistic event of the season. I kid you not. We did it. We found our niche. We had a great turnout, an exceptional talkback session with the playwright and, well, you weren't there, so I'm not going to tell you the rest. Sucka!

Oh, surely you don't have so much occupying your day that you can't at least click here. Heck, you could even bookmark it if you had just a smidgen of a brief second. And if you have, oh, say two or three hours Wednesday night and want to have some good, cheap fun and beer and wine, well I know of just the place.
